If a car starts from A towards B with some velocity. Due to some problem in the engine after traveling 30km, the car goes with 4/5 th of its actual velocity The car reaches B 45 min later to the actual time. If the car engine fails after traveling 45km, the car reaches the destination B 36min late to the actual time What is the initial velocity of car and what is the distance between A and B in km.

Paritosh   Let x be the distance between A and B.
Let v be the speed and t be the actual time.
vt=x ..... (i)
Now time taken during first 30km = 30/v
Time taken during next (x-30) km = (x-30)/(4/5v)
According to question total time taken = t+45
So
30/v+5(x-30)/4v=(t+45) ..... (ii)
Similarly In second case
45/v+5(x-45)/4v=(t+36) .....(iii)

From (ii)
120 + 5x-150 = 4vt+180v
or, 5x -30 = 4x + 180v
or, v = (x-30)/180 ... (iv)

From (iii)
180 + 5x-225 = 4vt+144v
or, 5x - 45 = 4x + 144v
or, v = (x - 45)/144 ... (v)
From (iv) and (v)
(x-30)144 = (x-45)180
or, 4x-120 = 5x - 225
or, x = 105 km
