hence (D) is the answer.

2). If E is on third step and B is on higher step. Then, C,_A should not come below or above E. 
Thus E should come in between C and A. Then vacant step is first.
Hence (A) is the answer.

3). If B is on step 1, then D is on step 2. 
If C is on step 5 then A is on 3
If C is on step 6 then A is on 4
hence (C) is the answer.

4). From the possible combination. A is on step 4.
Hence (C) is the answer.

5). i). B and D are next to each other so one is at odd and one is at even. 
so, i is wrong.
ii). A and C are next to each other. Thus both have the same numbered steps (i.e odd or even). so ii is true
