Pattern of Written Test

The aptitude test include Quantitative questions,analytical/ reasoning questions, verbal logic questions and technical
questions. So there was no separate papers for each.Besides there were 90 question and the total time given was 90 min.The
technical questions covered all the topics from electrical engineering. But basics were given more importance.

Pattern of Group Discussion

Name of the Topic / Task : Slow and steady wins the race.....
The GD comprised of 8 people. The topic was as mentioned above. I talked against in the discussion at the start and came
up with notions of fast and smart wins the race in the present world and supported the argument with examples and logical
as well as analytical reasoning. Besides that I could also counter some of the points given by candidates who talked
against. At the end we came up with the concept of situational slowness and steadiness as the conclusion of the discussion.

Technical Interview

There was only one interview and it consisted of both Technical and HR. So I would utilize this space to tell about the
interview from both angles. The interview panel had 3 members from the Areva team. One HR personnel, one Technical
expert and one Recruitment team Head. They started of with HR questions and then to my technical expertise. the
questions asked were: Why did you choose Areva? Why should we recruit you? Then they asked from my CV some
questions like Why did you write designing as your hobby? Then about the way I could have written more about my
Hobbies. Then they started with technical questions like : on the basis of my answer to the Question on hobbies they,
Asked me to design a Transformer? what does the core consist of? why is it two core can it be 3 core and why? Then they
showed a single line diagram of a transformer and asked to tell about the elements in it? The he asked about my project
briefly? At last they asked why did you get lower GPA in the second year and a discussion about the CGPA followed.
Finally there was a discussion about the work ethics.

HR Interview

please refer to the space in the technical interview.

Suggestion

Work hard on basic topics. If you have a favorite subject its well and good otherwise be sure you know about the company.
My advantage was my knowledge about the company and the handling of HR questions. But be confident on what you say
and speak your opinion on anything at all. Also they look for how you think in the GD so basically the GD is not about
shouting or talking too much but talking sensibly. The rest of the things are to be taken care with the usual importance.
Now all this is my point of view if you think its not helping, please follow your on methodology for cracking Areva. Being
instinctive helps sometime. Well, all the best to the juniors who would be sitting for placements especially in Areva.

No. of Candidate applied And Points that Worked in Favour

I had a wonderful experience from the panel members except towards the end of it. Otherwise things went very well.
Technical questions were properly answered and the HR questions were actually handled exceptionally well. The GD was
very conducive one. Everyone gave their opinions and there was a good understanding between every candidate. The
general questions in the Aptitude Test actually was pretty easy but the technical part had basic electrical questions as well
as it covered the entire syllabus. It was a process that had minimal stress but at same time knowledgeable.
