Questions were quite simple like how electricity is made in a coal based plant, functions of bunker, magnetic feed separators, drawing of steam circuit in turbine, Steam temperature and pressure at turbine inlet and the auxiliary units in a coal handling plant.

First was basically about my family background. Then which one you would prefer NTPC or CIL, and compare the working conditions for the same.Then they asked me about my training which i did in NTPC, Singrauli.

First of all the applicants must have a very good academic record.Secondly, he must know everything about his training eg. technical questions based on that. Must have a good knowledge about power plant engineering and must be confident in whatever he says. He/She should not be over confident.One more important thing answer the questions which one knows well, don't answer the questions which you don't know.Don't give a wild guess, because they warned me when i guessed one.

A total of nine students were shortlisted on the basis of GPA(including category).Then three of them finally got selected.(2 UR, 1OBC). My rank was 2nd among the applicants who were shortlisted.



I think the thing which worked in my favor was my good GPA, confidence, sincerity and very academic record throughout my life. At same time I was NTSE scholar which would have added a distinction among all the candidates who appeared.Obviously one needs a certain amount of luck to land in such a great organization.
