Pattern of Written Test

90 minutes - 72 questions

The written test consisted of 72 questions.Half of the questions were technical and the rest half from quant, reasoning and verbal.The test was online and strictly timed.60 seconds were given for technical and 45 seconds for others.Technical questions tested the basics and covered almost all the topics.For quants one has to be really on his toes. English was quite easy. For the guys preparing for GRE and CAT the verbal section is a cakewalk. Being adept at permutation & combination and probability will be of great help as these questions can be easily solved within the stipulated time period.

Pattern of Group Discussion

There were around 10-12 people for GD in my group.They gave us this topic and asked us to have a friendly chat among us.I was the second one to speak,so I could contribute some important points for the initiation of the discussion.I was favouring the need for software jobs.I spoke four times during the discussion and all the four times I was loud and clear.I could give some facts and figures during the discussion which were very important.

Technical Interview

In the technical part they asked me about the types of welding,gears etc.They asked me which was my favourite subject, for which I answered Thermodynamics.They asked me about basic therodynamic principles and many questions from IC engines and automobiles.Some of the questions were from Otto cycle and Diesel cycle.I did my technical training in a Maruti Service Centre so they asked me about MPFI and CRDI engines,ignition system in automobiles also they asked me about the type of engine used in Swift Cars(My answer was -in Swift Diesel-Diesel engine and Swift Petrol-Petrol engine,the actual answer was K-series Multi Jet Engine).In fact I didn't answer all questions but whatever I gave was in a confident way.

HR Interview

The first question was 'tell us about yourself'.They asked me about my extra-curricular activities,prizes that I have won.I think at one point of time in the interview I said I am good at everything and later I told that I am not good at theory and I can learn well if I have some hands on experiance.They noted this point and asked me about the contradiction,for which I had to tell that I am not bad in theory but more good in practical.You have to be diplomatic in giving some answers.I was confident and smiling through out the interview.

Suggestion

In GD you should be among the first 3 to speak.Save your points and give it at a latter part of time.Listening is the most important part of the GD.Listen carefully what others are saying and make your valid comments.Occasionally nod to convince the panel that you are listening and always have a good eye contact with other participants.In interview always show your positive attitude and keep smling

The aptitude test was not so easy.There was a good blend of theory and reasoning type of questions.It is very difficult to solve all the problems in the aptitude with in the given time limit.But you can score well in theory and verbal parts.I got a good group for the Group discussion who were cooperative and friendly.Sometimes the group also matters in the selection process.The interview panel was very friendly and they expected an answer from me for each and every question.
