I`m a student of haldia inst of tech CSE dept..TCS came on campus in our college on 24th jan 2010..Initially there was a presentation round where the HR head gave a brief overview of the company and about the pay package and also answered questions from the students..please do pay attension in this round because you might get questions fired in your interview from the presentation..almost 350 students appeared for the online test,among which 135 got selected and appeared for the interview(Technical+HR was held together in the interview itself)..our results were declared on 26th Jan..90 got selected..

in our college after the online test the shortlisted candidates had to face only one interview in which questions from both HR and technical were asked..i was in the first slot of 10 students who had to face the interview..i was first guided in the interview room by one of the college representatives ..i wished my interviewer good afternoon..he stood up,shook my hands,wished me and asked me to sit down..he intoduced himself and asked for the cv and registration form in which we had to previously fill various details regarding our educational qualifications,project details etc..he first asked me to tell me something about myself while he was buzy looking at my cv..he asked me about my favourite actor..the latest english movie i had watched..basically he was trying to make me comfortable..then he took a sheet and and asked me to convert the expression into postfix..i did it..then he asked me to draw a tree of the postfix expression..after that he asked me whether i knew C..he asked me about call by refernce and call by value..then i showed him my file which had my certificates and mark sheets..he asked me about my project..just basics..front end/back end..he also asked me whether i was confident about unix and linux..and asked me in which shell i worked in unix & when i couldn`t answer it he himself explained it to me..he also asked some basic questions from compilers like YAAC..finally he asked whether i wanted to ask him anything..i wanted to know how i should prepare myself before joining TCS..which he answered and explained very well..after which he smiled and said that i made a good attempt..i thanked him and left..one thing that i was very happy about was the fact that he made me very comfortable and it di`nt seem as if i was appearing for an interview it jst seemed that i was having a good discussion with him..this also helped me to answer all his questions confidently..i`m really thankful to him for this..infact almost all my friends felt the same thing..almost all the interviewers were very friendly..

>practise the aptitude questions from rs agarwal and previous years papers >be technically sound atleast in your core subjects..like C,DS,OS and DBMS >be confident..have faith in yourself and God..i know its easier said than done but believe me its not that tough.. >and getting placed is definately a matter of luck..nobody can deny that...but trust me if you word hard you are definately going to be rewarded..and if you don`t get placed in the first company don`t be disheartened there`s somethng better waiting for you...ALL THE BEST:))

I think the most important thing is to clear the aptitude..i practised apti for 1 month and that was enough..basically at the end of the day it tests your aptitude..practise just sharpens your skills and makes you perfect..and in the interview it is all about luck and how confidently you are able to answer the questions that are thrown..but confidence and NOT OVERCONFIDENCE is important..speaking fluently that is good communication skill also helps..it is an added advantage..
