HR Interview

New placement system called 'Toppers Shop' by HCL Technologies, was a welcome replacement to the normal grind of Apti-GD-Tech-HR. This just has an HR interview and you are selected on your Resume.

They give YOU the choice of posting at which ever location you want* (*Conditions Apply). This combined with their availability of Telecomm., Embedded and VLSI projects in their campused, gave it an edge to other such profiles.

Suggestion

A resume like mine would get you into ANY company, if you cross the written part (Except for the Academic Marks part ;) ). So, no wonder I was not tensed, and things were a breeze.

Things to take note:

Build a good communication level with the HR, which seemed, was the clincher, from the pattern of selection.

Remember your projects, achievements, key-skills and get ready for questions from it. This kills the interview then and their, if you can construct a proper answer, highlighting your part in it.

They might put across situations, like work-environment related scenarios. Preparation for them is not feasible, it depends on your on-feet-thinking ability.

So If you are in a select set of colleges (about 50 of them) where Toppers-Shop is available, then be prepared to get a good opportunity very easily.

No. of Candidate applied And Points that Worked in Favour

Since our placements season has been equivalent to a bumper crop, not many eligible students were left on campus.

Day started with a PPT showing clips from the Third Act of 'Any Given Sunday' with Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell as the Background track, showing how HCL has risen Inch by Inch. . An hour later we were told to report with a Resume and a couple of Photos. Three HRs took up about 70 people (Yeah of a batch of 1400, we have only that many left except YBs). Interviews started by 11:30AM and people were coming out within 7-8 mins

I got a particularly young HR, the guy was good at his work, and did not take more than few seconds to acknowledge my Resume and the achievements column.

The 10 mins I spent started with me explaining my Schneider Innovation Challenge 2009 finalist project, then a brief introduction to the Schneider IC 2010 Finalist entry and then finally the details of their different divisions and job profiles available.

Results were out by night and almost 20 people were selected out of 30 from BE, (rest from MCA only 7 got selected).
