The selection was a 4 stage process involving 2 written tests and 2 interviews. The written tests were common aptitude tests with moderate level of difficulty. The first interview was technical followed by a HR interview...
Both the interviews were thorough and long. Technical interview lasted for 45 minutes. Most of the questions were from the core chemical engineering concepts focused on topics such as heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics and process modeling
The company was open to everyone above 6 cgpa. Beyond that the shortlisting was done based on the performance in the written test and the in the interviews. They were looking for people with diverse background with good extra curriculars and academics.
No. of Candidate applied And Points that Worked in Favour
Around 250 or so applied and 8 were finally selected for the job. The company did not disclose the results of tests so rank was not known. ..I had already gone through the selection process of two companies before so I had the basic idea about my shortcomings and strengths. Also I prepared the technical part well which worked in my favor. After that the HR interview was only a formality and I was asked about my work preferences.
To succeed in L&T, thorough technical knowledge is a must.
