Details of types of questions asked in each of the sections:
there were 75 questions overall...
SEC 1:20 questions on quantitative ability....consists of questions on cubes,logical reasoning,sets,venn
diagrams,stmt 1 is correct or stmt 2 or both that type of questions
SEC 2:there were questions on data structures n file commands like rewind,fseek etc..
SEC 3:there were 15 questions on operating system concepts,unix commands and networking
SEC 4:there were questions on overloading,object oriented programming,pure virtual function,inheritence,pointers
and all (read kernighan ritchie for c pointers) and see mastering c++ by venugopal(good book)

Technical Interview

they asked me lots of questions on c,pointers...questions like what is volatile,register,extern,macro,inline
function,typedef...all such things enum and static const char* const*char difference,proper knowledge of c is very
very essential...then they asked data structures questions those were very easy,....then they asked me bytecode in
java how and where it is used,java virtual machine functionality,why it is platform independent,padding in
structures....then they asked about real time operating systems...unix and real time what is the difference...then
wat is the scheduling algorithm used in unix and windows..in which operatin sys priority scheduling is used...what is
memory leak,...when do we get segmentation fault...what is semaphore...ptherad mutex...what is leaky
memory...fork system call how is address space copied....what is 3 way handshake protocol...ipsec...digital
signature....rsa..public key cryptography...100 mb ram u have with u?how will u write a program so that the
system crashes??jus allocate with malloc size greater than 100

HR Interview

just general questions?where r u from?n why do u want to join HP?What achievements have u done to prove that u
r good at coding...i dont know why companies ask this question...i guess they r lookin for some
achievements...dont know then he asked me where my dad works n general HR questions not a problem at
all....acha they do have an english passage to write at the end of the aptitude ....so i guess a little bit of
communication skills is also required....

Suggestion

take HP if it comes at a later stage of the placement process...but the brand value of the company is very very great
but the package is 4 lakhs + benefits so think what is ur priority job satisfaction or money and sit
accordingly...enjoy

we had a 2 hr written test
then after that out of 50 people who appeared for the test..these people shortlisted only 5 people 2 from cse and 3
from ece..
See guys,HP has a brand name...the work profile for me is RnD in Image Processing....the pay package is less but if
u perform well u l definitely get a hike..apart from dat if u r interested in package only then dont sit for HP..u mite
get a higher package in a new company but the problem is dat it mite not send u an offer letter or make u to sit on
the bench jus giving u salary...which automatically increases the chances of sacking u...i got my first normal job
around august when the placements initially started but then after a long time of wait ...i sat for bout 12 to 13
interviews and got rejected in all of them....so please do not lose hope dats wat i m tryin to say...i have my friend
who has sat for 26 interviews i think till now n still he has not been placed.....so wait for right opportunities grab ur
chance n dont get frustrated....
