Company: UBS SWISS BANK

GPA criteria

There was no aptitude test taken by this organization. Direct shortlisting was done on the basis of CGPA cutoff. For
the pleasant astonishment of Biotechnology students, the cuoff for them was less as compared to that for others!
Apparently they had requiremnet of Biotechnology students for their healthcare vertical.

Technical Interview

It was a mixed bag of questions but focused more on knowledge in core section. The questions asked to people
depended on how one projected onself in front of the interviewer. For those who showed more interest in business
were asked questions on stock markets, economics and other related stuff. I presented myself as a student
interested in Biotechnology and thus maximum question posed to me were from this domain. They discussed my
project work (on Stem Cell), paper presenation (on Tuberculosis detection) and current business news in
Biotechnology. Many questions realted to pharmaceutical biotechnology were asked such as different methods of
drug action and difference between startegy to design drug for viral and bacterial disease. The interview lasted for
some 30-35 minutes.

HR Interview

It was a typical HR interview and lasted for not more than 10 minutes. They asked questions on my family
background, schooling, hobbies etc. Like in most of the HR interviews, I was asked to market myself as to what are
the various credentials and qualities that I possess.

Suggestion

I would recommend following suggestions:
1. We should never neglect our core studies even if company is from management background. It creates a
negative impression if they find that even after studying in a particular field for more than 3 years we dont have
sound knowledge and interest in it.
2.There is a fine shade of difference between confidence and arrogance. We should make sure that we wear the
right shade for interview.
3. Interview is a two way process. It is not very difficult to take interview on our desired course for our benifit. It
should be more of interactive session rather than just questionaire.
4. It is very important that we close the interview in a correct and positive manner. We should thank the interviewer
for his/her time and should interact with him/her in case we have any doubts. This creates a good last moment
impression which can have positive impact on your marking once you leave the room.

No. of Candidate applied And Points that Worked in Favour

This opportunity wasnt a very difficult one to crack. I remained cool and just faced the things as they came. I
enjoyed interview because I was tested on something which I have been studying for past 3 years. I was actually
surprised at the standard of questions asked. The interviewer although not from Life Sciences back ground
displayed an excellent knowledge in questions she asked and the discussion that followed. Successful interview was
the crux of selection process rest all was just formality.
