Aptitude Test : 30 Minutes
Quantitative : 10 Minutes
Reasoning / Analytical : 10 Minutes
Verbal English : 10 Minutes
Technical : 30 Minutes
Details of types of questions asked in each of the sections:
We had 2 rounds of written test. 30 minutes of aptitude test and 30 minutes of technical test. All questions are of
multiple choice type only
In aptitude test, 10 marks were for english verbal ability (paragraphs, synonyms, antonyms).
10 marks for quantitative aptitude. (be thorough with RS agarwal)
10 marks for data interpretation.
In technical test,
almost they covered basic questions from IS:456-2000,IS:800, (for eg: minimum reinforcement in RCC, rankine
merchant formula form IS: 800), IS:1893,pre-stressed concrete.
Questions were easy. The questions that were asked are used by you regularly. No question will be beyond your
knowledge. Only thing is you have to give a glance of those subjects or codes atleast once before you sit for test.
Then you will be certainly qualified. Of the 36 students who appeared for the written test from my class, only 4 were
qualified in written. Now you should imagine how the CUT-OFF mark was. See that you do your best while
preparing.
Your Technical Interview depends on your resume completely. Before calling you for interview, the panel will study
your resume for 3 minutes and then you will be asked to enter the room. They will ask questions based on the
points you mention in your resume / bio-data only. At the same time it must be a worthy resume. Just because you
know that they will ask questions based on your resume, don’t prepare it in your favour by making it simple and
easy.
As I already mentioned, please be strong with your basics of B. Tech and M. Tech. Come prepared with your B.
Tech project. Many questions will be asked regarding that. If possible go with your project report also. I carried it
with me. But of course they didn’t ask me.
Panel consists of one or two people. They asked me about my B. Tech project, my area of interest in B. Tech and
M. Tech. Questions on Earth quake engineering, Torsion, Foundations, Steel structures, Structural analysis, the
code books I have used and some simple clauses of those codes.
My technical interview went on for 35 minutes. First 20 minutes I answered very well. Later the panel asked too
difficult questions and I could not answer them properly. But through out the interview I have shown huge amount
of confidence, enthusiasm, good english and a smiling face.
Only those who have done their Technical Interview well, were called to HR interview. It means if you don’t fair well
in Technical interview you are out of the game. My HR interview went on for 20 minutes. In HR interview they will
see your english, eye-eye contact with the panel members, whether you are nervous or not, etc. By the way 3
people were there in panel for me for this HR interview.
They asked me some questions regarding previous day's pre-placement talk. They tried to know whether I was
attentive when ppt was going on or not. Then they asked me why TATA group, what do you know about TCE, Why
M. Tech, why this specialization, tell something about yourself, family, education. They asked me to list some of the
essential leader ship qualities, about hobbies. They also asked me to sing a song. (Because I have mentioned
singing as a hobby in my resume)
At last they will give you a chance to ask any questions / doubts. In a hurry or in tension please don’t come out
saying that you don’t have any thing to ask. Please ask something relevant to the company. Come prepared with a
question while preparing for the company by seeing the company's website.
I have done this HR interview superbly
Just by seeing what I wrote above please don’t think that the interviews are tough and they are only for people who
study regularly, or for those who have very good CGPA. Its nothing like that. After finishing your second semester in
the month of april, you will have to go for summer internship till july and placements will start from august 1st
(approximately). Utilize those 2 months of summer internship. Daily study/revise your basics for 2 hours atleast,
from your B. Tech level starting from strength of materials to final year project work.
By doing so you will be in touch with the concepts and fundamentals. It boosts your confidence levels and that
confidence will take you INTO a company. If you waste that time then you have to struggle later.
Thats all about my experience and suggestions to you all.
ALL THE BEST.
