Technical Interview

The technical interview started by asking me to give topics that of my liking and about my project works. Then as I
completed with my project overview he started the questioning based on it by giving me a industrial problem. It was based
on ammonia reactors and the corrosion problems. Some of questions are: 1. What was the wall thickness of the reactor
required for holding Hydrogen for the given specifications.( based on the problem they gave which i do not remember
properly) 2. What is the metallurgy of the reactor? 3. What is the effect of storing atomic hydrogen in SS reactors? 4.
Explaination of Hydrogen embrittlement.

HR Interview

My interview started with HR questions. I was first asked to introduce myself and tell about myself. It was in following
aspects: 1. My whole education background. 2. My views about my college and explanation of my 3 years life in this
campus. 3. My achievements 4. My personal details I was then cross questioned based on my replies. This lasted for about
5-6 minutes.

Suggestion

I would like to tell my metallurgy juniors that they should be thorough in Corrosion if they aspire to get a job in IOCL. I
would also recommend them to know Materials Technology, Heat Treatment and Physical Metallurgy well. Apart from
technical knowledge one should also present themselves very well in front of them and should be able communicate well.
They must be able to put their answers to the point and in a crisp manner and also express everything they would like to
say in that. I am of the opinion that the employers have seen not just technical skill but also the overall personality of the
candidate.

It was a great experience for me as it was my first interview and i was really nervous. But after HR round my confidence
grew and I was able to do well.
