Pattern of Group Discussion

out of all the applicants appearing for Technical aptitude test 31 students were
divided in groups of two groups . a group discussion the topic of "need of renewable energy as the prime need for sustained development" was give to my group.From each of the GD groups, 5 applicants i.e. totaling 10 students were selected for the PI.

Technical Interview

Technical Questions Raised:
1. what are the methods for measuring liquid flow and gas flow in the industry
please make the line diagrams involved in the process.
2. explain the basis of Bernouli's Principle its limitation and modification
what are the major terms in the equation and their significance.
3. what are the major technology involved in miming heavy oil. what are the EOR
technique involved. what are the thermal recovery methods used?also specify
what type of artificial lift you would employ? if you were to choose between SRP
and PCP what is your recomendation & justify. why gas lift cannot be used in
heavy oil recovery.what are your vies in terms of using jet pumps and ESP.
4. what do you know about CBM.How CBM is different from Natural gas.what are the challenges Production.
5. what is ecometer

40 marks- tech-apti test
40 marks- GD categorized as speaking,listening, concept building, general
awareness
15 marks- technical interview
5 marks- HR

Suggestion

few Benevolent suggestions.
1. Go prepared in the job tests accounting the worst possible scenario.

2. GD Tips:

--->In GD most important is to listen and then speak confidently.
---> If some topic is given first write down the points that u like to speak on a bit of paper so that you dont miss the point.
--->if somebody has already stated your points then try to justify those points.
also if possible try to give an example or add a few pros and cons.
---->if you are not getting any thing then support previous speakers.if you do this properly u would never be rejected in the GD.
--->Do nt unnecessarily try to dominate. if u dont allow others to speak then even if you are good u would not be selected.

3. PI TIPs: remember that u ar selling urself a product

---> be polite and gentle.
--->show confidence.note that body language plays important role for selecting a candidate. like always smile and maintain eye to eye contact.
--->IF ur getting nervous dont allow if to come out, like control shaking of legs, try to sit straight. do not sway ur hand too much, speak loud but Dont MUMBLE.
---> IF you get stuck while explaining.or a have a loss words. then DONT STOP try to regain momentum by saying phrases like " in another words....","altenatively the point is......" etc
--->in certain case the interviewer asks questions that you dont know. in such case try to explain of a solution, many time interviewer would give clues, in such cases if you make the right approach u would get aleast 5/10 where u were
getting 0 for the same question.
--->always shake hands with the interviwer at the end and say" thank you for this opportinty."---this may impress them .

As per my personal evaluation , my technical and general knowledge way a key factor along with good performance in GD.
Confidence in PI and GD may have contributed to the success beside luck.
