Pattern of Written Test

Aptitude Test : 30 Minutes

Details of types of questions asked in each of the sections:
It was a computer based exam. Each question was timed. We got about 30 seconds for each aptitude and quantitative
question, which everyone felt was less. The Technical questions were given about 45 seconds per question, which is more
than what you require since it was usually know-not know questions. There were about 75 questions in all.

Pattern of Group Discussion

Details of the process and your contribution:
The process was straight forward. 11 ppl shorlisted were around a table and we were to discuss the topic. I felt Group
Discussion is just another discussion we usually make with our friends, and that was what even their officials told us. But
this one will be slightly official, which demands language and more importantly, body language. I talked what little I knew
about the topic. But learnt much more from the discussion. I also asked my friends some doubts I had regarding the topic
and we discussed casually, and concluded India should go for the nuclear deal.

Technical Interview

Myself, like the other 4 friends shortlisted for the interview, were asked questions on fits. I was also asked questions on
gear box, the types of gears present in it, the firing order of a 6 cylinder engine, and why it is so. They saw the way i
approached the problem, rather than the solution. I felt so because I could see they were satisfied sometimes, when I didnt
give a precise solution but felt my approach is good. The questions were automobile and slightly, manufacturing related,
mainly because I said in the beggining itself that I might not be interested in entering the management and sales profile
they were offering.

HR Interview

I didnt have much of a HR interview. The only question I was asked was about my decision to join TATA Motors. My
interview was the shortest of all (abt 20mins v/s 1hr for others)

Suggestion

It is mainly into manufacturing, but should be entering large scale designing very soon. One should be ready to take the
challenge of Mechanical Engineering, but the places of work are not that preferable ones barring a few. I suggest this
company for anyone with true passion for core mechanical engineering (atleast for the Technical Profile they have).

I felt the company is good and growing rapidly. The presentation was a bit cliche but the over all profile of the company
was good. They were frank about the pay, and the HRM was very friendly with us all.
